Basic Plumbing and the Gay Community. Our Commitment to Seattle's gay community is a strong one!

BP has a long standing commitment to our community. That commitment is demonstrated in actions both large and small. It's a little known fact that the primary cleaner/disinfectant component of BP's rigorous ongoing cleaning and facilities maintenance regime is Hepastat256. Hepastat is in compliance with the US government's Blood borne Pathogens Standard and is effective in killing both HIV and Hepatitis B viruses in addition to many others. As expected, Hepastat256 costs considerably more than the usual off the shelf products. BP makes this recurring investment in the health and welfare of our members and employees simply because it is the right thing to do. The club's committed efforts to be a reliable and beneficial part of our community reap benefits both above and below the radar screen. We intend to maintain those efforts both large and small and build on them in the years to come.

Basic Plumbing maintains a resource room in the club that serves as a clearing house for publications of all types offered by community based organizations interested in distributing information through businesses that serve the gay community. Organizations seeking to have their publications distributed through the Resource Room should email BP Community Outreach.

Basic Plumbing made a long-term commitment years ago to have free, confidential HIV testing available through the club to members and non-members alike.

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm King Cty. Dept of Health provides this service at no charge at the club with results available on the spot. On Saturday nights the same service is offered by Lifelong AIDS Alliance from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Anyone at risk benefits by being tested regularly for his own sake and that of the community at large. HIV is no longer the death sentence it once was thanks to the dedicated efforts of people like those staffing our community service events, medical practitioners worldwide, ingenious medical researchers and the corporations that employ them. We can show them a measure of gratitude by taking advantage of the miracles that they have made possible.

Drug and Alcohol abuse are major problems in our community.

BP maintains a zero tolerance policy toward the use or sale of illegal drugs or alcohol at the club. Those found to be ignoring this policy will find themselves escorted out of the club immediately. Permanent loss of membership will occur automatically if there is a second incident. There will be no refunds for impacted rental or membership time in these situations.
